Microsoft has bought skype for $8.5 billion


Today the hot news is that microsoft has bought skype for $8.5 billion. First the option was that the bid may end up between $7 billion to $8 billion.

The co-founder of skype janus and niklas with their 14% stake with take in their home $1.19 billion.

Before the others buyers of skype were facebook and google. Google has already voice chatting facility so they may be not so interested in buying but facebook was interested. Facebook may be interested in offering voice facility in them but now facebook has to pay for skype minutes if interested.

eBay with their 30% stake in skype, now get $2.25 billion and Andreessen Horowitz, Silver Lake and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) own 56 percent of the company and that stake is worth $4.76 billion.

Microsoft if launch skype like company then it would require  huge resources but now by buying skype itself its easy for them to get all the users of skype and better investors.

Skype has good voice and video sharing capabilities and microsoft take this advantage in his windows 7 Phone. Now microsoft compete better with apple and google in mobile world.
